Anwar Ali - LL.B
Anwar Ali is studying the LL.B (Hons) law degree. He's currently in his second year.
Starting out
When I finished sixth form I was completely unaware about what to expect from being a student at the University of Derby. The whole idea of studying a topic completely new to me and being in a new environment was a frightening experience at first, but the prospect of getting a good degree and having better jobs available to me at the end of it helped motivate me and keep me on track.
The staff here at Derby are always helpful and friendly. I'm currently in my second year and I've already made many good friends for life!
Applying what I learn to the real world
The work is exciting and engaging. You will learn some vital skills that will stay with you for life. I've learnt how to effectively and independently research, I've improved my ability to evaluate and analyse, and I've also gained a much better appreciation for how law operates and regulates society.
Rather than simply writing essays, the LL.B course is more varied and practical. We take part in courtroom advocacy and team negotiations, and have lots of tutorial presentations which improve our communications skills and confidence.
What do I think so far?
So far I've thoroughly enjoyed the course, and the law resources available to me in the library are excellent.
I would definitely recommend studying a law degree at the University of Derby.
