Studying a joint honours degree at Buxton
"The course has given me the chance to study two areas that I am interested in, giving me variety in my studies. Also the course is quite hands on, with the chance to run events of our choice, which has given me good, practical experience.
The lecturers have been fantastic and very helpful, always offering support. The campus is small but provides students with most of the necessary facilities and equipment they need.
Within my course I have been on numerous fieldtrips to local and national attractions, including the NEC in Birmingham and Manchester Airport. In my second year, myself and a group of Travel and Tourism students went to Poland for a five day trip, to study tourism attractions. It was a great trip and everyone enjoyed it.
We have had many guest speakers in lectures, providing an insight into different companies within the industries. This has been useful as it gives a different approach to teaching.
Studying at the Buxton campus
The University is very unique as students get to study in a wonderful building in a nice location. Over the three years of studying here, Buxton has grown for students and has many facilities now in place.
The small classes give students the chance to create a good relationship with their lecturers and the courses available are interesting and distinctive as students can choose what they want to study.
The highlights of my time here would be the trip to Poland, playing for sports teams, making some wonderful friends and enjoying studying the modules on offer.
Once I graduate I will be working in Buxton as a supervisor at the Barcelo Palace Hotel, Buxton running conferences and events."
