Combined Studies Programme September 2011
We're looking forward to welcoming you back when you return to study on the Combined Studies Programme in September.
If there's anything you're not sure of about your return to study, you can contact the Programme Advisory Service, who'll be able to help you.
We'll also have a Joint Honours stand in the Atrium where the staff will have the information for Combined Studies students too.
So what's going to happen during Enrolment?
By now you should have received a letter from us which included important information about your results and enrolment:
-
a letter from the Combined Studies Programme progress board which tells you whether you've gained enough credits to move onto your next year of study.
-
your Statement of Achievement which shows you your results and the total credits you've achieved so far
-
4 Steps to Enrolment information sheet which explains what you need to do for enrolment in September
The "4 Steps" leaflet is also a guide to the sessions you need to attend and what will happen in them.
Wednesday 14 September
Your Module Selection and Programme Advice session (Step 1) is taking place on Wednesday 14 September, starting at 12.45pm in Room B122.
To find out more about what to expect and how to prepare for the start of teaching on Monday 26 September take a look at Steps 1 - 4, below.
» Step 1 - Module Selection & Programme Advice
You'll be able to talk to an academic counsellor about your module choices, and they'll complete a Module Selection Form with you and sign it for you to take to Enrolment. At this stage you will also need to submit your Learning Plan for the combination of modules you're wanting to study.
Staff from the Programme Advisory Service (PAS), who look after the administration for the Combined Studies Programme will be there to help you too.
» Step 2 - Enrolment
Enrolment will take place on B2 at Kedleston Road.
When you arrive at Enrolment, you'll need to use your user name and password so that you can log onto a computer. We want you to:
- check and update your contact details (address, phone number etc)
- enrol onto your modules using the Module Selection Form you filled in with the academic counsellors or academic staff.
There'll be staff available to help with the process if you need them.
Because there's such a large number of modules that are available as part of the Combined Studies Programme, staff members may do this for you to help you get through the process a little more quickly.
» Step 3 - Confirmation of Enrolment
After you've enrolled, you'll need to see someone for Confirmation of Enrolment. This is an important part of the process. Confirmation of Enrolment is where we check that your module enrolments are right and that your tuition fees have been calculated correctly.
If you are going to study part-time with us, you will need to pay at least 25% of your fees at enrolment.
If you're getting tuition or maintenance loans or grants, Confirmation of Enrolment is the process that activates the payments. If you are paying your own fees you will able to see a Cashier.
» Step 4 - Start of Teaching
Teaching starts on Monday 26 September and you need to be enrolled and have confirmed your enrolment by then. If for any reason you've not been able to confirm enrolment, you might not be able to access the course resources that you need for your modules.
Although you've enrolled on your modules and will know what day and time slot they are taking place, you'll need to find out which rooms they're being taught in. You'll be able to access the on-line timetable, here's some instructions to help with it:
|
To do this, log into UDo, using your User Name and Password and: Click on 'Timetables' under the Quick Links section. Then click 'Academic Year 2011/12 Timetable'. There are two search options: by Course or by Module. Select 'Module'. Next, type in the module code or title and click search. Select your module from the list and in 'Week Range Name' select the correct semester the module is taught in (leave this blank if you're not sure). Click 'Next' then select 'View Timetable Graphic'. |
