UniFi is a free, fast and efficient wireless internet service for University of Derby staff and students.
Users wishing to access the system must have a laptop computer or PDA which has wireless capability.
Users will have to connect to the service set identifier (SSID) "UniFi". Users will then be prompted to input their network username and password to authenticate to the system.
The Cloud Pay-As-You-Go service is available for anyone wishing to access the wireless internet service who does not have a Novell username and password.
The University expects that all service users will observe an acceptable code of conduct and make use of the technology in a professional and responsible way. Clear guidance on what is considered acceptable use, as well as the potential disciplinary and legal consequences of misuse are available at IT Code of Conduct.
For security/legal purposes Learning and Information Services may monitor and record audit data generated when users access computer and other systems at the University. All such monitoring or interception will be performed in compliance with the Data Protection Act, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act (RIPA), The Lawful Business Regulations (under RIPA) and the Human Rights Act.
