The University of Derby is a member of JANET Roaming Services (JRS) and operates the local JRS eduroam service.
What is eduroam?
JANET UK operates the eduroam (education roaming) service nationally. It allows students, researchers and staff to obtain internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions in the UK and abroad.

Who will be able to use the service?
As a student or a member of staff at the University of Derby you will be able to access eduroam when at any of the University campuses. You will also be able to use this service when you are visiting other participating academic Institutions.
Likewise, members of other academic institutions will be able to use this service whilst on any of our campuses including Derby, Buxton, and Leek and Chesterfield.
How do I use eduroam?
The service is available now. If you have a Windows Device, an Apple Device or a Linux Device, access the University wireless network using UniFi and your University username and password.
Navigate to http://cat.eduroam.org click on 'download your eduroam installer' and save and run the offered file. Follow the simple instructions remembering that:
- 'firstname.lastname@example.org' - the username is the same as you usually use to connect to University services (such as UDo and University PCs). It is important to add '@derby.ac.uk' to this!
- 'password' - is your usual University password.

Code of Practice
While at a participating site, you are bound by the University of Derby's Code of Practice and the Acceptable Use Policy of the site you are visiting.
Failure to adhere to these policies could result in suspension of service at your home address site and disciplinary procedures.
