Student support
Supporting you
We offer comprehensive range of support to our students. There are personal and academic counsellors, and a dedicated International Student Centre is here to help you, they have expert advisors to deal with any issues you might face. We have our own nurses and health centres on campus, and the Student Employment Agency can help you find part time work while you study. We also have a Multi Faith Centre at the Kedleston Road site, and our Chaplaincy has advisers from all the major religions.
We have a team of advisers, support workers and tutors who can give you support and guidance about things like finance, housing, legal matters and disability.
International Student Centre
The international student centre team will support you during your time here.
Dr Ahmad Kabaha (International Student Adviser) and John Chege (Visas and Immigration) are here to support you during your time at the University. Ahmad was an overseas student in the UK for several years, so he knows what it's like to come here to live, study and work. They can help you with your issues or concerns in many areas including British culture, immigration, your student visa, finance, working in the UK, and personal and welfare problems.
Make an appointment to speak to a member of the International Student Centre:

Support with your course
If you need help and advice with your course, your module leader will help you with any problems you have with a specific module.
But if you need more general advice about your course, your course leader or a member of the Programme Advisory Service (PAS) team are the best people to contact.
Do you need legal advice?
You can receive free legal advice at the Derby Community Legal Advice Centre.
