European WingTsun Organisation (Heidelberg, Germany)

Prof. Keith R. Kernspecht founded the European WingTsun Organisation (EWTO) in Kiel (Germany) in 1976. It has carried out three major functions since its formation: to maintain and develop the theory and practice of WingTsun, to act as an umbrella organisation for all European WingTsun students and instructors and to represent WingTsun towards the public. The headquarters moved from Kiel to Heidelberg (Germany) in 1980.

Keith R. Kernspecht founded the European WingTsun Organisation as an umbrella organisation for the development and spread of WingTsun in Europe, a previously completely unknown Chinese martial arts system.

From the very start the EWTO placed great emphasis on quality. The development and uncompromising use of a uniform grading and examination system has enabled this goal to be reached, for each year several hundred EWTO seminars are held to ensure quality and adapt techniques to current trends.

Students absolve a training curriculum consisting of twelve student grades, which takes between two and four years depending on training intensity.

The EWTO Training Academy has trained 90% of the European instructors. Full-time professional training as a WT instructor takes 18 months on the basis of six days or 40 hours of instruction per week.

Founded in 1995, the EWTO Security Academy and its highly-qualified staff offer training courses for professional bodyguards and carry out personal protection assignments. With its specific WT law enforcement programmes the EWTO has also contributed to the worldwide success of special police units and task forces in combating violent crime.
