I find the study environment at the University of Derby very warm and welcoming due to the ongoing support I get from my tutors. I have genuinely had the best learning experience here.

I have had an excellent experience at the University of Derby, studying for a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. I wish to continue my education and study a Masters in Engineering Management, as I believe this will help me widen my knowledge of the management process within the engineering world.

The Electrical and Electronics Engineering tutors are very knowledgable and each one of them has a lot of experience in their field. They are also very understanding.

What is life in Derby like for me?

A typical day in Derby can be very busy for me, especially Monday...

8:00am

I have a shower, quick breakfast (normally toast) and read morning prayer. I then head to university, where my lectures start at 9am and finish at midday.

12:00 noon

After lectures, I usually visit the library to find some literature for my course. The library is really tidy, and the books I need are usually very easy to find.

1:00pm

Lunch time! My course involves many practical aspects (soldering, wiring, programming) and I like to have my lunch while I am working in the workshop. I will often talk to one of the tutors during lunch as they are usually in the workshop too.

3.00pm

In the afternoon I have tutorials which are really important for exam preparation. The tutorials are normally followed by lab sessions, which are always fun, as you get to practice the theory and double check your understanding of it. The lab sessions last almost three hours.

6:00pm

Time to go home, feeling tired, but very determined to visit the local supermarket to buy some of their delicious garlic bread and something else for tea.

7:00pm

I get home, and cook dinner.

8:30pm

I usually spend some time during the eveing doing university work and revision.

10:30pm

Time to sleep!
