Contacting the emergency services

You can contact the ambulance service, police, or fire service (also called the emergency services) by dialling 999 from any telephone.

You should only dial 999 in a genuine emergency

For example, when someone is seriously injured or their life is in danger, or if you see a crime in progress or discover a fire.
