Learning Beyond Registration
Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is a vital part of developing competent, capable health service practitioners prepared to deliver a dynamic, flexible, quality, client-focused service. If you're employed by the NHS in the East Midlands then you may be eligible for fee-free access to our LBR modules and/or programmes. You'll need to supply evidence of approval from your line manager and Trust Education Lead when you apply.
About this module
This module is ideal for counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists.
It enables you to reflect upon the nature of three specified therapeutic approaches, specifically Person Centered Approach; Attachment Theory; and Cognitive Behaviour Psychotherapy, in relation to the genesis of human problems and psychological conflicts.
Relevant focus on forming appropriate therapeutic relationship is also examined from an integrative perspective taking account of influences from socio-cultural and diverse factors. A transtheoretical model presents a framework from which to understand the processes of psychological and therapeutic change and integration of the different therapeutic modalities. Counselling skills are developed to facilitate processes of change through the therapeutic relationship.
This module will enable you to develop their knowledge and understanding of psychotherapeutic theory and practise within the University setting in preparation for clinical practice with clients.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the module, you will be able to:
- Critically analyse the nature of integration of the three specified therapeutic approaches taking account of the Transtheoretical models position on processes of change.
- Demonstrate the skills needed to form a sound and appropriate therapeutic relationship, recognise and work with diversity, reflect on practice and carry out an integrative assessment of common human problems.
- Critically analyse and reflect on personal attitudes and beliefs in relation to the needs of the client group and the dimension of power within the counselling relationship.
