LLUK client entitlement statement consultation

LLUK

LifeLong Learning UK (LLUK) has commissioned the International Centre
for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) at the University of Derby to create a client entitlement statement for adult career service users. There is a need for an overarching statement which provides a clear expectation of the minimum entitlement for all users of adult information, advice and guidance services throughout the UK.

There is currently no UK wide description of what constitutes quality careers provision and neither is there a statement of user entitlement. Each country has a different approach to quality.

In commissioning this project, LLUK wish to develop a set of standards which bring coherence to current provision, embracing career services delivered across the sector. With current policy leaning towards 'all age' provision of career guidance services, this project presents an opportunity to align standards with those available for young people's services in England. The development of these standards and user entitlement will contribute to the coherent and consistent provision for service users across the UK.

A report has been written for LLUK summarising people's comments and ideas gained during the research. Electronic and face to face survey data was collected and used to re-draft the current statement in order to reflect service user's views.
