Evaluation of the Careers Advice Service Telephone Guidance Service
iCeGS has just completed a three year project to annually evaluate the Careers Advice Service (CAS) using a Quality Assessment Framework (QAF) specifically developed for the project. The Centre has worked closely with the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) and the delivery teams at BSS, to assess and quality assure the advice and guidance interventions delivered by telephone, email and through the dedicated CV support service of the Careers Advice Service (CAS) Career Coaches. iCeGS has continued to built on existing good practice identified through the evaluations conducted in 2008 and 2009 and have provided a set of assessment tools which can be utilised to systematically evaluate guidance across both centres in Leicester and Manchester.
The project has focused on the delivery of guidance from a professional practitioner perspective focusing on the approach adopted by the practitioner, the skills demonstrated and the extent to which they have been able to help the service user move forward. This independent review has consistently provided a thorough review of the services contributing to cascading and development of good practice. The assessment framework has been updated and amended each year to ensure it is fit for purpose and to incorporate new areas of practice.
The project was led by Siobhan Neary, Deputy Head of Centre (CPD).
