Y Touring Evaluation Research
11 October 2011
Y Touring Theatre Company's Theatre of Debate programmes form part of a five-year strategic project funded by the Wellcome Trust.
The theatre company and its funders are keen to ensure that the performances and associated activities continue to provide high-quality learning experiences. Y Touring also wish to continually learn from the process and improve the experience. During the five-year project, the company is working with a research and evaluation team which includes researchers from University of Derby, University of Manchester and Isinglass Consultancy Ltd.
The research team will be looking at the how different aspects of Y Touring's work affect the experience of teachers and students in schools.
Your colleagues and students may be invited to participate in the research in a range of ways, including:
- Answering questions during the debate directly before or after the performance, either on-line or talking with researchers;
- Completing an online survey a few weeks after the performance;
- Meeting researchers to discuss your impressions of the theatre company's activities and its place in the wider context of your teaching or learning.
Within each year, the research team will also select a small number of schools to act as case studies and meet researchers. If you were particularly interested in being involved as a case study school the research team would love to hear from you.
If you have any questions or concerns about the research you can contact the research director Jo Hutchinson (University of Derby) j.hutchinson@derby.ac.uk or Y Touring's Tour Producer David Jackson d.jackson@ytouring.org.uk .
If you would like to feature as one of the case study schools then contact Jo at: j.hutchinson@derby.ac.uk.
All our researchers who visit schools have full CRB checks which will be available for your inspection. Our research methods will also conform to the principles of ethical research and be approved according to the University of Derby Research Ethics Policy.
