Adult Guidance Conference: 'All-age guidance: opportunities for the future' -Thursday 16 September 2010 9.30 am - 4.30 pm - Holiday Inn, Manchester Airport (less than 15 minutes from central Manchester by train)
The ICG's Annual Adult Guidance Conference aims to address head-on the impact of changing economic, political and social circumstances and to focus on current issues which impact on the delivery of adult IAG services in a programme that is relevant, informative and challenging. With the introduction of the new Next Step Service, the new Work Programme, the development of an all Age Guidance Service and concerns about the reduction of jobs in the public sector, indeed our own industry, this year's conference has a strong employer/employment focus.
The programme offers a blended approach: thought provoking plenary sessions, with keynote speakers including:
- Adam Micklethwaite, Deputy Director, Adult Advancement, FE Directorate, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills,
- Dave Simmonds, Chief Executive of the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion,
- Adrian Thomas, Head of Resourcing, Network Rail. and workshops sessions, designed to provide practical help and ideas to practitioners delivering IAG services in difficult circumstances.
- A small exhibition of organisations working in the sector will provide an additional dimension.
The conference is for you if you are a careers/Next Step Adviser, an IAG worker, a manager or a policy strategist or researcher; whether you work for a large service provider, in a small team, on your own or as a self-employed practitioner and anyone involved directly or indirectly with The Work Programme. Wherever you work, the Annual Adult Guidance Conference provides a major opportunity for you to network with like-minded people, passionate about improving the life chances of adults through objective, realistic and timely information, advice and guidance.
