The Centre is gaining recognition for its work on embedding learning about careers within the STEM curriculum through our work with CEI at the University of Warwick for DCSF. Jo Hutchinson who leads our collaborative project has been invited to share research insights and emerging findings from our work with pilot schools and survey work with young people at Key Stage 3. She has recently presented findings to a research seminar of policy makers and professionals hosted by the Centre for Science Education at Sheffield Hallam University, and run workshop sessions at the national Association for Science Education conference, which was held at Nottingham University early this year.
In April, she will be addressing a STEM Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) Conference in Exeter. The event is aimed at leaders and practitioners in career advisory and education services, skills brokers and advisors (Education Business Partnership, Business Link), Sector Skills Councils, STEM delivery partners (such as STEMPOINT contract holders, NCETM, SLC), STEM Ambassadors, local authorities, regional partners and employers. The programme will focus on career information, advice and guidance for STEM related learning, training and employment aimed at inspiring both young people and adults from across the STEM pipeline. She will be joined by other keynote speakers from the national and regional STEM/IAG arena.
Further information on findings to date can be found from the iCeGS Occasional Paper - STEM Careers Awareness Timelines.
