In August 2010 the new Adult Advancement and Skills Accounts will be launched in England. This new report from the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), 'Fuelling Potential A Blueprint for Skills Accounts and the Adult Advancement and Careers Service' sets out the vision and core principles of the service and how it will be implemented over the next five months.
The report identifies a number of core principles which will underpin operation of the adult advancement and careers service and skills accounts. These include the following:
One service, one brand, Universal and inclusive, Customer-centred, Aspiration, Expert and impartial, Evolving, Using the latest technology, Working in partnership with Jobcentre Plus.
The Key milestones for the service identified include:
March 2010 - National Stakeholder Group meets
End March 2010 - New qualification framework, career progression framework, workforce development strategy, competency framework and
good practice guide on assessing and supporting learners on work based programmes available via the LLUK website. Workforce career progression framework.
April 2010 - Brand shared with contractors.
May 2010 - Face to face channel contracts with prime contractors signed.
May 2010 - Providers make data available to populate directory of course provision.
May 2010 - Training for telephone contact centre staff commences.
May 2010 - Training for face to face staff starts.
July 2010 - Branded materials to contractors.
July 2010 - New matrix quality standards published.
July 2010 - New telephone contact centre starts & New service wide CRM starts.
Summer 2010 - Advancement network design principles published and first Advancement network identified.
August 2010 -Adult advancement and careers service go live, including: new web channel with skills accounts; new face to face channel starts using service wide CRM; telephone channel already operational.
