We asked Deborah a few questions about her experience on our Joint Honours Broadcast Media course.
» What have you most enjoyed about the course?
It's been a great year so far and I have had the most challenging and inspiring time on the course. Broadcast media is great because of the exposure you get studying. I've had interesting modules like radio production, working with industry equipments and gadgets makes you feel confident to want to do more. My individual project in radio production; interviewing professionals in the media industry was the highlight of it all.
» What do you think of the facilities and equipment here at Derby?
The University radio studio is fantastic; you get to practice with real and professional gadgets. This helps a lot if you want a career in radio production or television. All the equipment is up to date, from recording to filming equipment and they are easy to use.
» How have you found the lecturers and the support they have given you?
When you have lecturers that are supportive and ready to help you, it makes the whole learning process easy. The lecturers are very helpful, especially when it comes to practical stuff, like working in the radio studio. They help you feel confident in working and doing your projects.
» What would you say to someone thinking about coming to Derby to study?
University of Derby is the best place to study, especially if you intend going into the media industry, because the lecturers are professionals and will give you hands on and practical experience. The environment is also very conductive and the students are friendly, so what more could you need.
