Shakespeare's Birthplace, Stratford
Grace Hardy and Rebecca Taylor, who went on the Stratford trip
During Induction Week, a group of first years and staff travelled down to Stratford, William Shakespeare's Birthplace, for the day - all expenses paid! They started off at the Shakespeare Centre with a fascinating talk on Shakespeare's life and times from Dr Nick Dean, had lunch and then visited the house where the poet and dramatist was born, as well as the museum which is attached to it. In the afternoon, everyone was free to wander around the lovely old town and they even visited the hostelry famous for hosting actors after each performance at the RSC, The Black Swan, aka The Dirty Duck.
What our students said
"The trip makes you feel more passionate and excited about the course and makes you really look forward to getting involved and studying"
"The trip is a great ice-breaker to relax any nerves you have. It is better than making friends in the classroom as it is easier to integrate and bond"
Grace Hardy, first year Joint Honours English and Theatre Arts student
"There is a good mixture of lecturers and they are all very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. They made us feel like we fit in already; we really got a welcoming feeling."
Rebecca Taylor, first year English and Education student
