London

The Metro Cultures class went on a field trip to London, to allow them to gather an appreciation of the complexity of the City and gather valuable research material for their studies. The trip started at Tower Hill (the Tower of London being a World Heritage Site) and proceeded through the Whitechapel and the Brick Lane areas of the City, where London author Ed Glinert provided our students with a fascinating insight into the history of the City and its people.

After lunch, adjacent to the Nicholas Hawksmoor's Christ Church, Spitalfields, the students took a walk through the city passing more of Hawksmoor's famous churches and other stunning pieces of architecture including the beautiful Leadenhall Market, and the breathtaking construction which is 30, St May Axe; more commonly known as 'The Gherkin'.
