1623 Theatre Company and Shakespeare Today
It's the sixth year that the Derby based 1623 Theatre Company has worked with our first and third year English students. The session made excellent use of the new, interactive learning space B226 at Kedleston Road. Our students had read Shakespeare's play Troilus and Cressida and working with actors, 1623's artistic director, Ben Spiller, and one of Derby arts centre QUAD's digital experts, they were able to 'story-board' the main love scene between Troilus and Cressida on B226's glass walls. After this our students directed the two actors in the way their group had chosen to present the scene and, finally, it was filmed! It was a great creative experience for all, fitting nicely into the students' assessed piece and it was one which also gave them a fantastic opportunity to try out some work based learning.
