Health, Safety and Wellbeing

Health, Safety and Wellbeing

The Organisational Health, Safety and Wellbeing team consists of Occupational Health, Organisational Safety and Wellbeing.

Occupational Health provides an OH service for University employees, giving advice and guidance to managers and employees. The framework for the University's Occupational Health Service's strategic aims is aligned with government public health initiatives.

Organisational Safety provides advice and guidance for staff, students and visitors. The Safety strategy is to deliver an effective safety management system to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the safety of staff, students and the wider university community.

The term wellbeing is often misunderstood and ambiguous; it doesn't need to be. Wellbeing is about creating an environment where staff are supported and developed, to perform to the best of their abilities ('Creating Success through Wellbeing in Higher Education' 2008).

Collectively we achieve this by taking forward initiatives as part of the HR strategy and supporting common occupational health, organisational safety and wellbeing needs across Faculties and Departments to help us all work and study within a healthy, safe and supported environment.
