On-line equality and diversity training
Equality and Diversity in the Workplace
The importance cannot be underestimated. If we are to truly live our values it is crucial that each member of staff plays their part.
”
John Coyne, Vice Chancellor
Equality and Diversity is central to the University's values where everyone has the right to expect to be treated with dignity, respect and courtesy. This means taking into consideration issues relating to a persons protected characteristics.
That's why the University has invested in an on-line e-learning module entitled Diversity in the Workplace, which can be accessed from any Internet-ready computer. Developed by Marshall ACM, the course provides the "must know" information every member of staff should have, whatever their level of responsibility. The module can be completed in about an hour and you can bookmark at any stage.
For those who are more familiar with equality and diversity issues, the course also includes links to news stories and articles on external web sites, and a range of case studies though which to deepen knowledge and understanding still further. There are also links to the University's' own policies and procedures.
In order for us to comply with our duties under the Equality Act we have now made it mandatory for every member of staff* to complete and pass this on-line course.
Thank you.
Professor John Coyne
