University policies and procedures
All our family friendly policies and procedures apply on an equal basis, regardless of sexual orientation. Where the word "partner" is used this applies equally to a same sex or opposite sex partner. Where the policy mentions wife, husband or spouse this applies equally to civil partners.

Benefits for all staff
- Pension - the University runs two pension schemes and offers you the opportunity to join the appropriate scheme for your role - the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and Teacher's Pension (TP). Both these pension schemes have been designed to ensure equal rights for same sex and opposite sex partners or married couples and couples in a civil partnership.

- Our employee benefits scheme is open to all staff
- Our employee assistance programme is open to employees, partners and any family member who resides at the same address.

- Death-in-service benefit is equally payable to married or civil partners.
- Private medical insurance can be purchased for the spouse/civil partner or co-habiting same/opposite sex partners.
