The Role of the Committee Member
The role of the committee member, in conjunction with the other members, is to:

Discuss and make recommendations relating to the strategic direction the University needs to take in relation to equality and diversity issues

Formulate strategic solutions to issues relating to equality and diversity where they affect staff and/or students of the University.

Bring to the group issues that are affecting staff or students within your Faculty or Department or sub-group, after previous attempts at resolution have failed or where the situation requires a higher level decision to be made.

Ensure that approved strategies are taken back to the Senior Management Team in your Faculty or Department for action

Ensure that Equality and Diversity is a standing agenda item at every team meeting

Ensure the collation of Faculty/Department data required for the University's Annual Report to Council
-
Assist the E&D team to raise awareness of E&D issues across the University, including participation in the Annual Diversity Week
-
Ensure that Equality Impact Assessments are planned and executed in the Faculty/Departments
-
Provide timely and constructive feedback on any draft equality documents, policies, schemes, plans etc.
