Consultation
Consultation and monitoring
Here at the University of Derby we have specific and general duties under the equality legislation to consult with employees, students and other stakeholders (where appropriate), from diverse backgrounds. We want to ensure that we get the views of as wide a range of people as possible, on our policies, procedures, guidelines, plans, projects strategies and other key business decisions.
If you want your views to be taken into consideration then please take the time to come to one of our consultation events or feedback through the web based consultation. This is your chance to ensure that any particular needs or requirements of people from the different equality strands and/or from diverse backgrounds and cultures are taken into account.
We undertake this consultation in a number of ways:
Through various groups/representatives already set up in the University, such as:
- Equality and Diversity Committee
- Disability Co-ordinators Group
- LGBT Action Group
- Race Equality Group
- Faculty/Department Equality Groups
- UNISON
- UCU
- UDSU
Through consultation groups such as:
- Disabled Staff Consultation Group
- Gender Consultation Group
- Disabled Students Consultation Forum (facilitated by UDSU)
- Other consultation forums (which may from time to time be set up for specific purposes)
If you are interested in joining one of these groups, please contact Nicola Adler on extension 1440.
Through web based consultation which will appear on this web page from time to time
- Please use this site to identify any sections where you feel we have not adequately covered our obligations in current law or where we could improve on our current position.
- Go to the named documents to read the drafts
- Go to feedback to register your comments
We welcome positive and negative comments and will consider all suggestions made.
At the end of the consultations we ask a number of equality monitoring questions. Please answer these as they help us to understand which groups of people we are consulting with. If you prefer your responses to remain anonymous then you can use the "prefer not to answer" option, leave the question blank or respond anonymously.
