Sarah Lewis - PG Dip Medical Ultrasound
Sarah Lewis is currently studying PG Dip Medical Ultrasound here at Derby.
What inspired you
I chose to take my career in this direction following my time in the ultrasound department as a radiography student. As a qualified Radiographer I spent more time in the department to gain a better understanding of the job. The increased patient contact and smaller team really appealed to me. Now that I am doing the job, I love the autonomy that I have been given too.
More about the course
The course is challenging and it took me a while to get back into the swing of studying but the lecturers are extremely supportive. Now I've got used to juggling all the balls I'm enjoying being so busy and the sense of achievement I get when I pass a module.
The course has been a mix of tutorials and distance learning. The tutorials have been really beneficial and the distance learning helps me to fit the course around my life.
And for the future
The course has opened new doors for me and I'm looking forward to the flexibility and the challenges that a career in ultrasound will bring.
