Welcome to our mentors information site

Nursing students

Our nursing mentors play a vital role in our students development

We've created this information area to help you in your role as a mentor for students on our Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies course.

We really value the role you play in the development of our nursing students, to make sure they have the knowledge and skills for their nursing career.

You'll notice that posters are appearing in the placement areas. On these posters you'll find the key contact at the University for your area. So please feel free to contact us whenever you need to.

Degree level by 2013

In line with the national requirements of the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), pre-registration nursing programmes are moving towards degree level - nationally at an all degree level by 2013.  You can learn more about the new NMC standards.

The new nursing degree awards at the University of Derby will be validated in the spring of 2012 with the anticipation that all students will commence the new programme from September 2012 onwards.

As part of our approach to the curriculum development of these awards it is important that we are inclusive during this process, we want to involve as many views and contributions as possible along the journey to validation. In order to achieve this involvement we will be using a variety of approaches including face to face workshops and the use of an online consultation portal.

If you would like to get involved and start contributing to the curriculum you can register and access the online portal.
