Welcome to our mentors information site
Our nursing mentors play a vital role in our students development
We currently have students studying on our existing Advanced Diploma in Nursing Studies course. The last cohort for this course commenced in March 2012 which will finish in March 2015. We are no longer recruiting to this course.
We began delivering our new pre-registration BSc (Hons) Nursing in September 2012.
For both courses, we currently offer the two fields of Adult Nursing or Mental Health Nursing, leading to either an Advanced Diploma or Degree level qualification and applicable professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The new course is based upon the NMC Standards for pre-registration nurse education (2010). You can review these standards in full. Our BSc (Hons) Nursing course received a series of commendations for the innovative interpretation and application of the new standards at the University of Derby.
As part of the preparation for existing mentors and other colleagues supporting students and to gain familiarity with the new programme, we have produced a short audio presentation.
