Ways of learning

You will have a dedicated module leader who will support you throughout your study.

Our portfolio of CPD courses includes online learning, blended learning and on campus options, so no matter what your preferred learning style or life commitments, you can find a study option that's right for you.

Online Learning

Studying through online learning gives you the flexibility to fit your studies around your work and personal commitments as all of your learning resources are available online - there's no need to come to Derby to attend lectures or classes.

By choosing online learning as your preferred mode of study, you will become part of a thriving, global community of like-minded people, aspiring to improve their career prospects and develop their professional knowledge.

As a guideline, you will need to allocate approximately 17-20 hours per week to complete your chosen module. Your learning is structured around a combination of tutor discussions, reading, research, online activities and critical thinking and reflection.

You will have an allocated online tutor who will support and navigate you through your learning. You will undertake your studies through a virtual learning environment called Blackboard, where course content and resources will be available. You'll also have full access to the university's range of online services, including our Library, student support, careers advice and IT support.

Distance Learning

If you would prefer to study through distance learning, you will receive your learning package by post or email. You will work through your learning package at your own pace and convenience, within module timescales, gaining support and input from your tutor as required.

Studying on campus or by blended learning

Blended learning comprises a mixture of online learning supported by written material and occasional on campus study sessions. This mix enables you to balance your work role, your personal commitments and studying.
