Arriving at halls: parking

To make sure everyone can load and unload easily when moving in or out of halls, please move your car once you have unpacked or packed your belongings. There are plenty of places to park near halls in both Derby and Buxton.

Metered parking in Derby

There is metered parking on many of the streets near the halls of residence. Brook Street, Bridge Street and Vernon Street offer the cheaper rates. Agard Street, Friar Gate and Mackworth Road are more expensive. The maximum stay for metered street parking is usually four hours and can cost up to £4 for four hours.

Car parks in Derby

1. Chapel Street car park (pay on foot)

(Long and short stay. Open 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Charges from £1.40 per hour)

There is a large multi storey car park on Chapel Street. Follow the one way system on Agard Street, taking the left hand lane. On Ford Street, turn right just after the Joseph Wright Centre, then turn left into Chapel Street. The car park entrance is directly opposite deda (the Derby dance centre).

2. Bold Lane car park (pay on foot)

(Open 24 hours a day. Open every day 8am - 6pm. Charges from £1.70 per hour)

This is a Park Safe car park. Follow the one way system on Agard Street, taking the left lane. On Ford Street, turn right just after the Joseph Wright Centre then turn right into Bold Lane. Follow the road round to the left and the car park entrance is on the right.

3. Friar Gate car park (pay and display)

(Long and short stay. Charges from 80p per hour)

Follow the one way system on Agard Street and get into the right hand lane. After the traffic lights you will turn right into Friar Gate. Almost immediately turn left, just before the stone bridge and a small 'cob shop' on Friar Gate. The car park is situated behind the used car traders.

4. Abbey Street car park (pay and display)

(Long and short stay. Open 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Charges from £1 per hour)

From Agard Street follow the one way system round and get in the right hand lane but sitting in the left hand filter marked IRR. Continue straight on into Stafford Street through the traffic lights, and at the roundabout take the 1st exit marked IRR following signs for Bold Lane and Abbey Street car parks. Follow the road round to the right taking the last exit onto Abbey Street. The car park in on your right.

5. Drewry Lane car park (pay and display)

(Long and short stay. Open 8am - 8pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 4pm on Sundays and Bank Holidays. Charges from £1 per hour)

From Agard Street follow the one way system round and get in the right hand lane but sitting in the left hand filter marked IRR. Continue straight on into Stafford Street through the traffic lights. Going straight over the roundabout follow the signs for Drewry Lane car park by turning right onto Abbey Street. Then take the first right onto Alma Street, next right onto Monk street and follow the road staright on to Drewry Lane.

6. Agard Street car park (pay and display)

Long and short stay. Open 24 hours Monday to Sunday Charges from 50p per hour to £3.50 per day)

From Agard Street follow the one way system round and get in the left hand lane. The Car park is on your left just after Sir Peter Hilton Court and before you turn onto Ford Street.

Pay and display car parks

Directly facing High Peak Halls is a pay and display car park, which is next to Waitrose supermarket. There is also a small pay and display car park next door to the hall.
