Three eco tips for the kitchen

  • Use old take-away containers to store leftovers or your packed lunch instead of cling film or foil.
  • Make the most of your leftovers - visit leftover chef for some tasty ideas for what to make with the leftovers in your fridge.
  • Cooking vegetables? Steam rather than boil them - they'll taste better, you'll save water and you won't boil all the nutrients away.  If you buy a tiered steamer you'll also save energy by only using one ring on the stove. Better still, try giving vegetables a quick rinse, placing them in a covered bowl and microwaving them for a minute or two.
