”
Third prize was this great Fairtrade hamper.
We asked our students living in halls to tell us their bright ideas for reducing our carbon footprint, and gave them the chance to win one of five Fairtrade or eco prizes.
We were looking for ideas that were.
- well thought out
- realistic and achievable
- innovative.
The winners
First prize: Marie Mangan
Marie provided us with some really great ideas, however the one we felt was the most achievable and the one we would like to look into taking forward was:
"There should be an evening organised to educate us all on how to cut down on emissions, maybe get a speaker to come in and tell the truth about global warming and what we can do to protect our earth".
- Second prize: Connor Fowler
- Third prize: Lisa Seiles
- Fourth prize: Thomas Davies
- Fifth prize: Imogen Turner
Other ideas included:
- Designated composting areas.
- Electricity readers to be introduced into every flat.
- Incentives and prizes awarded for the halls and flats that use the least amount of electricity.
