Articles of Association (Consultation)
The Governing Council has decided that the existing Constitution has outlived its usefulness. Rather than make significant revisions it was considered sensible to prepare a new document which is very different in character. The Council believes that the Articles of Association should be broadly facilitative but should provide the necessary protection for key parties. The new document is designed to be very accessible and should enable the University to develop in appropriate ways in accord with its purpose. The Articles of Association are subject to approval by the Privy Council. The Governing Council is also producing a set of Ordinances which set out the detailed procedures of governance. The Ordinances are subject to the approval of the Governing Council.
The Governing Council welcomes comments on the proposed Articles of Association from all interested parties.
We are planning two open meetings for the consultation process:
- Thursday 3 May 2012 at 12 midday - 1pm in room DO/G04 at the Devonshire Campus, Buxton
- Tuesday 8 May 2012 at 1pm - 2pm in the Lecture Theatre (OL1) at Kedleston Road Site, Derby
Please send any written comments to Paul H Bridges, Clerk to the Governing Council p.h.bridges@derby.ac.uk
The closing date for the Consultation is Monday 14 May 2012.
The responses to the Consultation will be posted on this website at this location in due course.
