We're here for you and your son, daughter, family and friends
At Derby we understand that starting university can be an emotional time for everyone and it can seem like a huge step for your son or daughter. That's why we make the journey as smooth as possible for all of you.
We hold a series of events and services to help your student find their feet at university and to give you peace of mind.
- Icebreakers - an informal gathering for new students, current students and members of staff. Icebreakers are an opportunity to ask any last minute questions and your student can meet students who will be starting university at the same time as them before they start in September.
- Welcome Weekend - where students come in to the University to collect their keys for halls, register with the doctor and receive information and advice about the year ahead.
- Family area - during Welcome Weekend we have an area where family and friends can relax and have a cup of tea whilst your student moves into their halls of residence. Staff will be on hand to answer any last minute questions or concerns that you may have
