Communication

The establishment of the Flexible Learning Network (FLN) will provide the mechanism for improved communication across the University in the development and application of Technology Enhanced Learning. Together with key stakeholders we will establish the infrastructure and methodology to support effective communication.

A Faculty Co-ordinator has been appointed within each faculty to lead and disseminate project activity. Details of each Faculty Co-ordinator can be found in the FLN Project Team section.

News and Developments

The FLN team has undertaken a review of communication on Technology Enhanced Learning and produced a Communication Strategy and Plan which includes:

  • SWOT analysis of our current communication with key stakeholders.
  • Identified academic barriers to engagement with technology enhanced learning and proposed solutions.
  • Identified key communication messages and channels for academic staff
  • Production of a draft operational plan for communications

The project has developed a template for this process and would be open to supporting other institutions in tackling this challenging issue. Please contact Dave O'Hare or Helen Carney for more information

We are working closely with our colleagues in QED on the development of a Learning Teaching and Assessment (LTA) portal. This will be an area for academics to find and share good practice, exemplars and case studies for technology enhanced learning.

The Derby team were invited to present on the theme of communication at the HEA 'Making a Difference: Challenges and Realisations from the e-Learning Benchmarking and Pathfinder Programme' on the 26th June. The presentation can be found here

Dave O'Hare ran a workshop at the University of Derby LTA conference on the 10th July disseminating the work of the project with a focus on institutional communication
