» Step 1 - Deadlines and managing your time

• Between the opening of the assignment submission and the deadline date, in most cases, you can submit and overwrite with a resubmission repeatedly. It's important you try to submit as early as you can to take advantage of the plagiarism checking function prior to your final submission. This will also mean that you've submitted something for your lecturer to mark if circumstances beyond your control mean that you can't complete your final submission. • We've set up a system of reminder emails to let you know when your assignments are due. The reminders will go to your Unimail account.
• The electronic submission area will continue to accept work after the due date. The date and time of submission will be recorded to identify late submissions.
• If you don't submit on time you'll have seven days after the deadline in which to submit the work. This assessment will be capped at 40%. Please visit the regulations pages for more information. We're also sending out reminders to students who haven't submitted assignments, letting them know about the possibility of up to 7 days for late submission. The reminders will go to Unimail accounts.

• It's important to manage your time effectively in order to be successful. The Student Wellbeing Service has put together some tips and advice to help you take control of your time.

» Step 2 - Format, file details and converting to PDF

• Assignments may be in Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, PostScript, PDF, HTML, RTF or plain text format. 
• Your submitted file must be less than 20 MB in size (Useful tips on how to reduce file size).
• If you have written work such as calculations or sketches these can be scanned and converted into a PDF.
• If you have an Excel spreadsheet you'll need to convert it to a PDF before you submit.
• An Excel workbook or chart can be included in a Word document using Microsoft Office 2010 - please see our guide on combining Excel workbooks into Word documents to see how to do this.
• If you have a Powerpoint file you'll need to convert it to a PDF before you submit. 
• Your assignment must be submitted as one single file. If you have separate files for your assignment, bibliography or appendix you'll need to combine these into one file.

» Step 3 - Uploading your assignment

Once your file is ready you'll need to log into UDo and complete your submission. To help you with this, we've created some step by step guides.

» Step 4 - Check your Originality Report

• Once you've submitted your assignment the system will generate an originality report that checks your work for text that matches from other assignments submitted by UK students; periodicals, journals and publications and current and archived internet resources.
• The originality report is really important as it gives you a chance to check how well you've cited and referenced text in your assignment and can help you to avoid any instances of plagiarism when submitting your work.
• To help you understand this, we've produced a Guide to your Originality Report (PDF). This'll take you through how to access your report, what is an acceptable score and where to get further help.

» Step 5 - Accessing your feedback

Your lecturer will know how you'll be recieving your grade and feedback so if you're unsure contact your lecturer.
