Did you know.....

The QR mast is 15 m high and the rotor section is a further 5 meters on top.The QR turbine requires a wind speed of 4.1 metres per second to start turning and generating electricity.  The mini turbines on the south tower roof only require 1.9 metres per second to start generating."

Anne Downes - Energy Officer

Wind power is one of the UK's big success stories, especially where large wind farms can be operated. However the technology can be extremely effective in smaller systems where there is sufficient wind.

Typically farms, schools and buildings will have sufficient wind in certain locations to make payback on investment in 7 years, whilst making a highly visual statement as to your organisations green credentials.

Vertical Axis Turbine

The Quiet Revolution QR5 is an innovative wind turbine designed to work well in the urban environment, where wind directions change frequently and quiet, low vibration operation is critical.

The design is the result of a combination of sound engineering principles and state-of-the-art aerospace technology. Form follows function to create an elegant and visually engaging product that can easily be integrated with both new and existing buildings.

The QR5 has a peak power up to 7,500kWh per year. A typical installation would generate 7,000 - 10,000 kWh per annum, equivalent to 10% of the energy requirements of a 600 m2 office building.

AVX's (mini turbines)

We are only the second place in the UK to have installed this particular model of wind turbine. They have been specially designed to sit on the edge of the roof to take advantage of the updraft created by the prevailing winds hitting the face of the building.
