Switch On Switch Off - Energy and Environmental Awareness Campaign
The cost of supplying electricity and gas to our tutorial buildings alone is over £1.5m not to mention the 7,530 tonnes of carbon dioxide this energy releases into the atmosphere. This is enough to fill nearly 40,000 double decker buses.
The problem is that constantly rising prices are not easily counteracted by being just a little more efficient. In order to even pay the same as last year, we need to cut our power consumption drastically. Every little helps so please remember to switch off all non essential electrical items before you leave the room. And last one out? Turn it out...

Campaign newsletter
Every term we issue a Switch On Switch Off campaign newsletter. Not just about energy, this celebrates all things environmental.
The newsletters have regular articles such as a book review, environmental news and snippets and an easy competition with an environmentally themed prize.
Previous competition winners have taken home bottles of English wine, a renewable Ipod charger, solar powered/wind-up radio and torches, water powered alarm clock and calendar and a Christmas hamper of Fairtrade food from the Co-op.
The latest issue (Spring 2013 No. 9) is out now. Download here (pdf 1.7MB)to enjoy and enter this edition's competition for a chance to win a solar powered garden globe, just in time for BBQ weather... If you missed any of the previous newsletters, they're all here to download.
