Environmental Champions Meeting
Throughout the University and Halls of Residences we've over 90 Environmental Champions (staff and students) dedicated to sharing information and providing advice on environmental and energy issues.
What do Environmental Champions do?- Help raise awareness within areas/departments/courses
- Support the University in meeting the targets in our Environmental Strategies
- Promote energy efficiency
- Encourage recycling and good waste management
- Advise colleagues on the policies, procedures and guidance available
- Share information/awareness updates from the Environmental Services Team
- Generate new ideas and provide feedback
The work of an Environmental Champion (Word, 209kb) is done in your own time, but we're trying to get approval from Senior Managers to allow time to be put aside each week or month (depending on your workload) to commit to the role.
Environmental Champions meet on a quarterly basis. Meeting dates for 2011/12 are:
- 23 November 2011 (Video Conference with Boardroom Buxton)
- 22 February 2012 (Video Conference with Lismore House LS/G06)
- 23 May 2012 (Video Conference with Lismore House LS/G06)
- 22 August 2012 (Video Conference with Boardroom, Buxton)
- 21 November (Video Conference with Boardroom Buxton)
Meeting will be held in B116 at KR.
Why should I bother volunteering?
It's very easy in an institution this size to take it for granted that someone else will turn off the lights or shut down computers, but it's vital that we all do our bit to help. By becoming a champion you'll be able to promote and help support change on a larger scale.
What should I do if I want to become an Environmental Champion?
Contact the Environment Services Team on Ext 1093 or 2265. We will take your name and details, add you to the list and help you on your way!
