Our courses:  

The BEng (Hons) Manufacturing and Production Engineering with Industrial Year gives students the opportunity to gain valuable industry experience on a work placement between year two and three. 

Students studying the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Year take an individual project module to extend your research and development skills and to give you real experience of solving an engineering problem in industry. It’s an excellent way for prospective employers to assess your skills for your first job or for career development.

With our MSc Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering  you'll develop the skills and knowledge employers are looking for in areas such as automotive, aerospace, petrochemical, scientific or manufacturing applications.

Our MSc Professional Engineering has been developed with the Engineering Council as part of the Engineering Gateways programme. This type of course has already been approved by a number of engineering institutions.

Our MSc Strategic Engineering Management course is academically rigorous and completely related to practice and specially designed to provide engineering graduates and other professionals with engineering background to pursue careers in management positions within engineering and manufacturing sectors. 

Markeaton Street 

Our Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering courses are based at Markeaton Street, just a short walk away from the city centre and the University’s main site at Kedleston Road. The site houses specialist equipment for technology, engineering, arts and design courses, and has some interesting design and construction features that control heat, maximize natural daylight and harness the heat from the sun. Take the virtual tour here.

The Big Show

The Big Show is the University end of year Undergraduate Degree Show for students involving a series of live events and exhibitions across the city of Derby. Our Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering students showcase their work at our Markeaton Street site. The Degree show offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience the very best of emerging contemporary art and design practice from our final year students. Their work explores the issues and subjects of today's world also looks ahead predicting and setting the trends of tomorrow.
