About the course

This course is aimed at qualified health care practitioners ranging from nurses to paramedics, who work in clinical areas where emergency care takes place.

You'll become an independent practitioner within the field of emergency and urgent care. You'll gain all the necessary skills for a successful career including assessment, diagnosis and treatment skills developed from your knowledge, critical thinking and planning abilities.

You'll also develop your communication, problem solving and clinical decision making skills in order to support your clinical assessment, physical examination, and diagnostics skills in emergency and urgent care settings.

During your studies you'll be encouraged to think critically about practice, allowing you to apply theory to practice. You'll also think creatively about different approaches to care, considering alternative, ethical, care pathways for the best interests of the patient.

During your studies you'll have access to our excellent Clinical Skills Suite, equipped with the latest specialist equipment to enable you to practice in a safe environment with the support of the teaching team. It has been built to NHS standards and features hospital wards and digital radiographic equipment so you can experience realistic education and training that you can apply to your workplace.
