Our courses
Take a look at some of our current research centres and groups.
Taught postgraduate courses
You'll usually need an undergraduate degree for one of our postgraduate courses, which can include postgraduate certificates, postgraduate diplomas, masters degrees and taught doctorates.
Most of them are modular, so you can build up credits at a pace to suit you.
Most masters degrees are broken down into stages, so you achieve interim qualifications along the way - postgraduate certificate then postgraduate diploma.
Generally you'll build on the knowledge you gained in your undergraduate degree, but some postgraduate courses allow you to change direction as you don't need any prior knowledge.

Postgraduate research opportunities
If you're interested in research, you can study for a PhD (Doctor of Philsosophy) or MPhil (Master of Philosophy) in an area that interests you.
You'll undertake your own in-depth study of an area of your choice, supervised by a team of specialists. You'll study full time or part time and you'll have the opportunity to get involved in our research centres and groups.
If you're interested in postgraduate research, you should submit your original research proposal to the research office. We'll then review your proposal, and consider whether it fits within our area of expertise, to ensure you'll receive the support and guidance you need throughout your studies. Whilst studying with us, you'll be assigned two supervisors to facilitate the development of your research project.
You can find out more about research degrees on the University's research pages.
