I have no regrets about choosing the course or choosing to come to Chesterfield.
”Why did you choose this course?
I was at a real cross roads in my life and felt I needed a change of direction. I'd always thought about nursing and finding out I could study locally and be close to home was brilliant.
What are the best elements in your opinion?
I've loved everything about this course, it's all been great. It's very challenging but the support you get from everyone here is so good. Because it's a small site everyone interacts with everyone and knows who you are. When you come in each day everyone speaks to you and I really value that.
The course is hectic, but in a good way. There is lots you need to do and being organised and having a plan for your time is essential. The other students in the group are important also for support. I've met a great range and mix of people.
The placements have helped me gain confidence and made me realise how important communication is for good nursing practice. Putting patients at ease and reassuring them is vital.
Summing up of experience?
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to anyone. I would certainly do it again. I have no regrets about choosing the course or choosing to come to Chesterfield.
I think I'd like to work in the community when I qualify as a nurse. I definitely want to do more study when I've finished and top my qualification up to a degree. I would probably want to come back to Derby University to do this.
