”Why did you choose this course?
Seeing the care my Mum received during her illness and eventual loss of life made me want to become a nurse. I wanted to contribute to the care of others and try to make a difference during difficult periods in people's lives
What are the best elements in your opinion?
The fact the course is offered at Chesterfield was important to me. It has made the experience so much more manageable. The support you get here as a student is brilliant - it's much more than I had expected. The support from other students has also been really important too

Summing up of experience?
I've loved the course so far. The placements, particularly those in the community, have been excellent. I've been made to feel part of the team and directed by really supportive mentors towards valuable learning experiences.
The future
I think district nursing is what I want to do ultimately. This will require me to do another course and I wouldn't hesitate to return to The University of Derby to do it.
