My name is Mohammed Jakhara. I am the Head of Subject for Integrated Professional Studies.
The integrated Professional Studies Subject area includes the BA (Honours) Applied Social Work Programme, the BA (Honours) Community and Youth Work Programme and the BA (Honours) Health and Social Care Programme. All of the programmes offer opportunities to develop excellent academic and professionals skills. Furthermore, they all offer experience in practice through placements that we organise for you with a range of our partner agencies in the statutory, voluntary and independent sectors. Feedback from our graduates has evidenced high levels of employability with many securing careers locally, nationally and internationally.
If you are interested in a career in Social Care, Social Work, with Communities or in Youth Work, please come along to our open day. You will get the opportunity to meet some of the academic staff and attend a session that will give you more information about each of the programmes and the Professional Statutory Bodies that accredit the Social Work and Community and Youth Work programmes.
Choosing the right course is an important decision. Attending our open day will give you the opportunity to find out more about the courses we offer and to meet me or some of my colleagues from the teaching teams. We'll be there to answer any queries you may have about the course and about being a student in Derby. And we'll also take the time to give you a one to one service, so you can be sure you get your questions answered.
We'll be available at the Faculty of Education, Health and Sciences stand which is the red stand located in atrium three, but don't forget to sign in at main reception to collect your free lunch voucher.
Once you've signed in, you can go along to one of our welcome talks which will give you an introduction about our university. After you've had your welcome talk, you can come along to talk to us.
Don't forget to come along to our specialist talks which will give you all the information you'll need about our courses. We'll talk about all the key information you'll need to get on to the course, what you can do once you here and you'll also hear about the opportunities you'll have after graduating. We'll tell you a little more about what we do here and some of the exciting projects you can get involved with.
You'll get the opportunity to speak to some current students at the University who will be able to give you a real insight into what to expect here at Derby.
