Exceptional Extenuating Circumstances Appeals

If your claim for exceptional extenuating circumstances (EEC) was rejected by the panel, you may be able to appeal

To be eligible to appeal you must:

  • Provide additional evidence that wasn't available when the panel considered your claim
  • Explain why this evidence wasn't available before
  • Submit your appeal on the correct form [EEC2] within 10 working days of being notified of the panel's decision.

Submit the completed form, evidence and copy of the notification letter to the Assessment and Awards Unit at your Student Support Centre.

If your appeal is eligible, it'll be forwarded to an independent arbiter from another faculty, who'll review your case. You can read the appropriate regulation in section I of the 3Rs at www.derby.ac.uk/academic-regulations.

Please note: this process is for appealing against the decision of an EEC panel only. If you wish to appeal against a module result you should follow the academic appeal process www.derby.ac.uk/assessmentguide/whats-an-academic-appeal.
