Based at the Buxton Campus, my role as an Education Liaison Development Officer is structured in two ways: providing liaison for Higher Education for the University sector and Further Education for the College sector.
In my HE role, I provide the link between schools and colleges with the aim of helping prospective students get an accurate insight into Higher Education so that they can make informed decisions about our University. I do this by delivering interactive workshops and presentations on all aspects of university life in schools and colleges and also organise visits to the University in the form of experience days, taster days and campus tours. I also attend HE and UCAS fairs to advise students about our courses.
Similarly, in my FE role, I build relationships with our Peak 11 schools and beyond to assist in providing the link to Buxton College. I work with the schools to deliver workshops and presentations to raise awareness of post 16 opportunities within Further Education with the aim of attracting potential students to study at Buxton. I also attend Post 16 opportunity evenings and careers fairs and co-ordinate faculty taster sessions.
