I remember having visits from Derby students while I was at sixth form and that helped me to decide about whether or not I wanted to go to university

  • Course: BSc (Hons) Psychology
  • Home town: Derby

Why did you choose to come to the University of Derby?

Before coming to Derby University I had gone to an open day to see what the actual campus would be like. I liked the feel of the University as soon as I had entered, the atmosphere and the size was perfect for me. Visiting the university beforehand definitely made me feel more confident about my choice. One of the best things about the University of Derby is how you are made to feel like a student rather then just another number.

Why did you choose your course?

I had already studied psychology when I was at sixth form and found that I really enjoyed and understood this subject better than any other that I had studied. I remember having visits from Derby students while I was at sixth form and that helped me to decide about whether or not I wanted to go to university and that I would like to pursue my knowledge within the psychology area.

What do you want to do after you graduate?

After I have graduated I am hoping to continue studying and do a postgraduate course within psychology, possibly counselling or health psychology as they interest me the most.

Where are you living while at University?

I am a local student and live about 15 minutes away from the main Kedleston road site, this is one main reason why I chose to go to University of Derby, I loved the idea of everything being close. It also helped that I was familiar with the main surroundings such as the town centre. With me being a local student I also had the benefit of staying close to my family and friends which was an advantage for me.
