Managing your money
Managing your finances at university isn't easy. So here are some hints and tips to help you
- Try to pay your major expenses your rent and bills, for example up front, to make it easier for you to budget your remaining money.
- Don't get a credit card.
- Use your Students' Union card wherever you can to get discounts.
- Earn extra money by getting a part time job that fits around your studying.
- Make a packed lunch to take with you to uni. It could save you about £35 a week.
- Cycle or walk to uni instead of driving or getting the bus.
- Don't buy all the books on your reading list. You can get a lot of them from the library or pick them up second hand from other students or online.
- Become a student ambassador. It pays well, looks great on your CV and means you will meet lots of new people.
- Don't overspend. Stick to the amount of money you planned to spend each week.
