Jessica Moore - Bachelor of Education
The Bachelor of Education at the University of Derby has allowed me to channel my strengths into my Subject Pathway of the Creative Arts
”Background
Studying a variety of A Levels such as Product Design and Fine Art, I progressed onto a Foundation in Art and Design at De Montfort University, Leicester. Furthering my Art and Design skills has informed my own personal skills within the Arts, and has influenced my strengths within teaching.
The course
The Bachelor of Education at the University of Derby has allowed me to channel my strengths into my Subject Pathway of the Creative Arts. Specialising within such an area has allowed me to use my interests and love for the Arts into teaching. Extra projects in this area, for example choreographing a school Aztec dance has enabled me to develop my pedagogical skills within the area that I feel the strongest.
The experience
A fantastic experience of the B.Ed is the chance to visit another country to compare education systems. I have been lucky enough to visit Orlando, Florida as part of the Comparative Education module within my Third Year. This broadened my experience of aspects of education, and has been particularly useful for gaining overseas contacts that can inform opinions upon my future research.
Placements
Through different placement contexts I have been able to develop my skills within teaching different year groups in a variety of schools. From teaching Year Five numeracy to re-enacting the Good Samaritan with Year One, my teaching journey so far has been enlightening and has developed my own knowledge and skills within education.
