Kirtley Building
We've opened a new facility for our trainee teachers to develop their skills in PE, dance and drama. Alongside this are also classroom facilities for music and art, and a base for the University's Graduate Teacher Programme.
We hosted an event to launch this and our revamped courses Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Postgraduate Certificate of Education (PGCE). Representatives from some of the University's partner schools, local authorities and other stakeholders also came to visit.
University Vice-Chancellor Professor John Coyne, Head of the School of Education Mr Chris Warren and Assistant Head of Teacher Education Dr Des Hewitt gave speeches at the event, and there was also a dance and drama display created by a former student Becky Manton and performed by pupils from Kniveton Primary School.
